The first workshop on New Challenges in Distributed Systems, organized with the support of CMM (Centro de Modelamiento Matemático www.cmm.uchile.cl) will be held in Valparaiso, April 6-9 2009.
The workshop will combine invited talks given by international experts in distributed systems as well as technical presentations given by young Latin American scientists. The event is aiming at bringing together both young and expert researchers in the area of distributed systems to discuss the new challenges arising with the evolution and deployment of technologies such as wireless networks, sensors networks, online social networks, etc. The technical presentations will be selected upon submission of a one page abstract.
A restricted number of grants to help cover the travel and accommodation expenses is available for students and postdocs wishing to participate in the workshop. Priority will be given to participants selected to give a talk.
The topics covered by this call for abstract include, but are not restricted to, the following list:
- Algorithms for distributed systems
- Distributed computing
- Dynamic networks
- Game theory in networks
- Sensor networks
- Social networks
- Wireless ad hoc networks
- Distributed applications
Additional information will soon be available at the webpage of CMM
